Gaylord Machon
Gaylord Machon, an independent winemaker since 2011, manages his estate in Beaumont-Monteux, in the heart of the Rhône Valley. He focuses primarily on Syrah, the region's emblematic grape variety, and also cultivates parcels of Roussanne and Marsanne for his white wines. In 2002, Gaylord took over the family's five hectares of vines, previously farmed by his father and uncle. Determined to make his own mark, he left the cooperative to produce his own cuvées, seeking to fully express the potential of his terroir. Gaylord Machon favors manual methods and green harvesting to minimize disease and reduce chemical treatments. His soils are worked without herbicides, promoting biodiversity and vine health. In the cellar, he adopts traditional winemaking techniques while limiting the use of sulfur to preserve the purity of the fruit. Red wines are aged for one year, while white wines are left to rest for ten months before bottling. This approach produces crisp, expressive wines that bring out the grape's natural aromas. Among Gaylord Machon's notable cuvées are "Ghany", "La fille dont j'ai rêvé", "Lhony", and "Le petit Marcel", each offering a unique taste experience and reflecting the winemaker's commitment to quality. His Crozes-Hermitage wines are particularly appreciated for their finesse and their ability to express the terroir of the region. Today, Gaylord Machon manages 8.5 hectares of vines with his wife Aurélie. Together, they strive to maintain high-quality production while respecting the environment. Their commitment to sustainable viticultural practices and their passion for excellence make their wines sought-after by wine lovers and connoisseurs alike.
