Clos des plantes
Le Clos des Plantes is a winery located in Montbenault, in the Anjou region of the Loire. The estate, run by Olivier Lejeune, was created in 2017 when he took over three hectares of vines. Olivier has a rich and varied background, having studied and worked in New Zealand, notably at the Felton Road estate, before returning to France to buy his own plots, taking advice from iconic Loire figures such as Mark Angeli and Richard Leroy. The estate is planted mainly with Chenin Blanc, with parcels of Grolleau Noir and Cabernet Franc. The terroir is composed of soils rich in schist and quartz, bringing a distinctive minerality to the wines. Olivier Lejeune uses organic farming practices and favors natural winemaking, with no inputs except minimal doses of volcanic sulfur if necessary. The wines are aged on lees and bottled without filtration or fining, and are of the utmost purity. Clos des Plantes wines are renowned for their precision, energy and ageing potential.
