Elio Sandri
Élio Sandri is a passionate winemaker based in Monforte d'Alba, in the heart of the prestigious Barolo appellation in Piedmont, Italy. A native of this wine-growing region, Élio has devoted his career to enhancing the value of local terroirs by practising respectful, sustainable viticulture. His estate, Cascina Disa, covers around 7 hectares, 3 of which are devoted to the production of Barolo, with particular emphasis on the emblematic Nebbiolo grape variety. Élio Sandri has always been guided by a philosophy of respect for the environment and biodiversity. He cultivates his vines without herbicides or synthetic chemicals, thereby promoting the health of the soil and the quality of the grapes. The grapes are harvested by hand, enabling him to select the best bunches and guarantee the excellence of his cuvées. In the cellar, Élio adopts an artisanal approach, using indigenous yeasts for spontaneous fermentation and opting for long maturation in large oak tuns. This traditional method produces authentic, expressive wines that perfectly reflect the Monforte d'Alba terroir. Its flagship wines include Barolo, as well as wines made from local grape varieties such as Dolcetto and Barbera. Élio Sandri‘s wines are appreciated for their finesse, structure and exceptional ageing potential. Thanks to his passion for the land and his expertise, Élio has forged a solid reputation among wine lovers and critics alike. By combining tradition and innovation, he strives to produce high-quality wines that captivate the palate and tell the story of his terroir.
