Domaine Saint-Cyr
It was in Anse, in the Beaujolais region, a few kilometers south of Villefranche sur Saône, that Raphaël Saint-Cyr took over the family estate created in 1948 by his great-grandfather Pierre Saint-Cyr. At the time, the farm was based on a polyculture model. Pierre not only grew vines, but also fruit trees, cows and pigs... And it was when Michel Saint-Cyr, Raphaël's grandfather, took over as head of the estate, that this diversified model disappeared in favor of vine-growing alone. Successions followed successions, and today the estate boasts 23 ha of vines in the Beaujolais appellation, of course, but also in the Crus of Chénas, Morgon and Moulin à Vent.
When he took over in 2008, Raphaël put his own stamp on the history of the estate, choosing to convert the entire estate to organic farming, while applying biodynamic viticultural methods. He also reintroduced animal-drawn tillage, and his Mélo cuvée is a tribute to the horses he works with. In 2012, he was joined by Karine, his wife, who took over the commercial side of the business, bringing the estate's wines to all the best tables. Today, the couple offer us natural wines that are free of inputs, gourmet and convivial: just like the vineyards they come from.
