Jean-Marie Berrux
For over 15 years , Jean-Marie Berrux has been cultivating and vinifying his 1.5 hectares of vines, located near Puligny . Originally from Savoie, Jean-Marie first worked in advertising before returning to the land. He trained in viticulture and oenology in Beaune , and decided from the start to produce wines as naturally as possible. He worked early on in biodynamics and the vinifications are done without inputs. Jean-Marie cultivates a small area, but he can thus go to the end of things and work with precision. The underground cellar under his house in Meursault allows him to take the time to properly age the wines in oak barrels. They are then brought up to be bottled in the courtyard of the family home. The small volumes produced, and the great attention he pays to the smallest details, give life to sublime wines, which improve year after year. Le Petit Têtu thus becomes one of the benchmarks for the best in natural Burgundy wines. We have been amazed several times blind tasting old vintages from Jean-Marie. We have only one piece of advice to offer: keep them in your cellar, and share them with your friends, because you don't come across such lovely "simple" Burgundy Chardonnays every day...
