Helicon
Domaine Hélicon, founded in 2018 by Constantin Vellis in Martigné-Briand, in the heart of Anjou, covers 1.87 hectares of Chenin Blanc. Constantin Vellis, after a career in human resources consulting, decided to reconvert to viticulture with a passion for organic practices and respect for the environment. The estate stands out for its respectful approach to soil and vines. Farming practices are designed to preserve soil health and biodiversity, essential elements for Constantin. The vines are cultivated without herbicides or pesticides, and cellar operations are kept to a minimum to ensure authentic expression of the terroir. Only a small amount of sulfur is used to stabilize the wines. The Chenin Blanc juices are fermented in oak and acacia barrels, without prior settling. This natural winemaking method produces fresh, balanced, lively wines with great complexity and depth. Constantin Vellis seeks to capture the essence of the Anjou terroir in every bottle, emphasizing purity and authenticity. Although Domaine Hélicon is still young, it has rapidly gained recognition thanks to Constantin's rigorous and passionate approach. His commitment to organic and environmentally-friendly practices, combined with meticulous winemaking, promises a bright future for this Anjou micro-domain. Domaine Hélicon wines are already recognized for their exceptional quality, reflecting the richness and diversity of the Anjou terroir. Domaine Hélicon is a promising example of winemaking excellence in Anjou, combining innovation with respect for tradition.
