Fondé en 1988 par Frédéric et Rolland Bonnard, la Maison Bonnard est située sur les coteaux calcaires de Montagnieu, au cœur du Bugey viticole, entre le Jura et la Savoie. Ce domaine s'étend aujourd'hui sur 16 hectares, ayant obtenu la certification en agriculture biologique en 2016. La viticulture pratiquée est biodynamique, avec une attention particulière portée à la santé du sol et à la biodiversité. Les vinifications se font parcellaires et sans soufre ajouté, misant sur les levures indigènes pour les fermentations. Les vins de la Maison Bonnard sont élevés sans artifices œnologiques, avec seulement un léger sulfitage lors de la mise en bouteille pour assurer la stabilité. Cette approche naturelle permet d'obtenir des vins expressifs du terroir unique de Montagnieu. Le domaine cultive des cépages bourguignons tels que le Pinot Noir, le Chardonnay et le Gamay, qui atteignent un haut niveau d'expression sur ces sols calcaires. Cependant, ce sont les Mondeuses et les Altesses qui se distinguent particulièrement, rivalisant avec les meilleures expressions de ces cépages en Savoie. La Mondeuse, en particulier, offre des vins riches et épicés, tandis que l'Altesse, également connue sous le nom de Roussette, produit des vins blancs aromatiques. Depuis quelques années, la nouvelle génération représentée par Romain et Anne-Sophie a rejoint leur oncle Rolland et leur père Frédéric, apportant un souffle nouveau au domaine. Leur vision contemporaine et leur dynamisme permettent de perpétuer et d'améliorer les pratiques traditionnelles du domaine, tout en intégrant des innovations respectueuses de l'environnement. La collaboration intergénérationnelle au sein de la Maison Bonnard est un exemple de transmission réussie du savoir-faire viticole, alliant tradition et modernité. Leur engagement envers une viticulture biologique et biodynamique continue de produire des vins de haute qualité.

Created in 2010, Vinograf was taken over in July 2024 by Clara & Baptiste. With their experience with Marée Haute, they work to perpetuate Vinograf's strong commitments: a careful selection of established or novice artisan winemakers, all driven by the concern for excellence in their practices, in the magnification of terroirs and the search for authenticity of taste.

Several specifications correspond to these names. If we very often hear about sulphites, rightly accused of giving a headache, many other products can be used in the composition of so-called conventional wines.
Here is an overview of the different organic, biodynamic and natural specifications:
The organic specifications (AB label) prohibit any use of synthetic chemicals in the vineyards and in the winery. However, it allows some oenological crutches during winemaking. Sulfites, for example, are tolerated up to 100 mg/L for red wines and 150 mg/L for whites.

In biodynamics (Demeter or Biodyvin label), the winemaker not only works without synthetic chemicals, but also takes into account the lunar calendar for all the operations he carries out. He will also use biodynamic preparations (fermented horn dung, silica, plant herbal tea, etc.) to strengthen the vines. Overall, the winegrower seeks to include the cultivation of the vine in a global environment. Sulphites can go up to 70 mg/L for reds and 90 mg/L for whites.

In natural wine (Vin Method Nature label), the specifications specify the use of organic grapes, fermenting naturally using native yeasts (as in biodynamics). Natural wines see no input during all vinification and aging. Only minimum doses of SO2 are permitted (30 mg/L maximum), and must be mentioned by the winemaker. No brutal filtration or wine alteration techniques are permitted. We also find the name SAINS Wines which aims to completely prohibit the use of sulphites.
