Domaine 7 was created by Abel Benmaamar in 2018. It is based in the Martigné-Briand area, in Anjou, in the Loire and today covers an area of 4 hectares. Before making wine, Abel Benmaamar worked for several years in the railway industry and one day, a friend offered to sell him his vines. At first, he refused but kept this idea in mind for a very long time. It was in 2016 that he took the plunge! He then began a BPREA viti-oeno training course in Mâcon, decided to enrich his experience with several winegrowers, notably in Beaujolais at Domaine Thillardon and in the Loire at Patrick Corbineau. In 2018 he met a certain Julien Delrieu, a very talented young winegrower from Anjou who offered him the chance to take over a few vines from a group of young winegrowers. He works in a sector that is closely observed by natural wine lovers - Stéphane Bernaudeau is there for example - on vines managed using organic farming methods. His vines are around thirty years old, composed of Chenin for the whites and Cabernet Franc for the reds. The vines are all certified organic and are mainly located on a small hillside bordering the Lys, a small stream flowing into the Layon a few meters below. It is a shallow schist soil, typical of the area. For the vinifications, Abel Benmaamar proceeds in a simple and traditional way. Fermentations are done by indigenous yeasts, then aging in vats and/or barrels, Abel intervenes as little as possible and ensures that the wines are produced as naturally as possible, without however prohibiting himself from intervening when necessary. He is one of the new winemakers with great potential, for whom we have had a real crush, Abel Benmaamar of Domaine 7 is therefore a gem to follow very closely.

Who are we ?

Created in 2010, Vinograf was taken over in July 2024 by Clara & Baptiste. With their experience with Marée Haute, they work to perpetuate Vinograf's strong commitments: a careful selection of established or novice artisan winemakers, all driven by the concern for excellence in their practices, in the magnification of terroirs and the search for authenticity of taste.

Several specifications correspond to these names. If we very often hear about sulphites, rightly accused of giving a headache, many other products can be used in the composition of so-called conventional wines.
Here is an overview of the different organic, biodynamic and natural specifications:
The organic specifications (AB label) prohibit any use of synthetic chemicals in the vineyards and in the winery. However, it allows some oenological crutches during winemaking. Sulfites, for example, are tolerated up to 100 mg/L for red wines and 150 mg/L for whites.

In biodynamics (Demeter or Biodyvin label), the winemaker not only works without synthetic chemicals, but also takes into account the lunar calendar for all the operations he carries out. He will also use biodynamic preparations (fermented horn dung, silica, plant herbal tea, etc.) to strengthen the vines. Overall, the winegrower seeks to include the cultivation of the vine in a global environment. Sulphites can go up to 70 mg/L for reds and 90 mg/L for whites.

In natural wine (Vin Method Nature label), the specifications specify the use of organic grapes, fermenting naturally using native yeasts (as in biodynamics). Natural wines see no input during all vinification and aging. Only minimum doses of SO2 are permitted (30 mg/L maximum), and must be mentioned by the winemaker. No brutal filtration or wine alteration techniques are permitted. We also find the name SAINS Wines which aims to completely prohibit the use of sulphites.

We strive to offer you wines from artisan wines, from estates on a human scale and often family-owned. And that's why we take the time to travel across France from vineyard to vineyard in search of these natural wines that thrill us.
We are particularly keen to introduce you to the new winegrowers of tomorrow who work tirelessly to offer us magnificent wines.
